<p>1 Lavender Top tube/5 mL EDTA whole blood.&nbsp; <strong>Specimens not transported within 12 hours should be refrigerated. Label specimen tube with patient\'s first and last names and medical record number (or date of birth if medical record number is not available), and collector\'s initials.</strong></p>

Clinical Use
<p>Determination of ABO blood group and Rh type for transfusion candidates. Group and typing of expectant mothers and newborns may indicate potential for ABO hemolytic disease of the newborn. Rho(D) typing is used to determine Rh immune globulin candidacy for prenatal and postpartum patients.</p>
