Specimen Requirement
Cervical or vaginal swab transport media. Identify source on requisition. Beta Streptococcus Group B (Streptococcus agalactiae) will be the only organism sought and reported. Since routine genital cultures include Beta Streptococcus Group B, this need not be ordered separately when a routine genital culture is ordered.
